Our student current account is from 12 years until 17 (Youth Card) and 18+ years once the member is engaged in full time education.

Youth Current Account 12-15 year olds

For applicants aged 12-15 years old, the following additional conditions apply:

  • Written consent from your Parent/Guardian is required to open the Youth Current Account and receive a Debit Card with POS and ATM services; a Personal Identification Number and Digital Banking Services.
  • The account has to be opened in one of our offices, up to date ID and Proof of Address will be required. Please call us on 053 9233835 to make an appointment.
  • You may only have one Youth Current Account and you cannot hold this Account jointly with anyone else.

Debit Cards for 12-17 year olds

  • Extra security with age related restrictions applied to some retailers e.g., off licenses, casinos etc.*
  • With Online Access the current account holder will have access to all the funds in their accounts.

Important information
In order to open a Student Current Account and avail of a fee concession, you must be aged 12 years or over, resident in the Republic of Ireland and in full time education. Accounts can be opened by Members aged 12 and over with Parental Consent required for Members aged under 16 years. Fees and charges apply for using your Debit Card for purchases and cash withdrawals in a foreign currency. Terms and Conditions apply. For overdrafts and loans, you must be 18 years or older. Lending criteria, terms and conditions apply. A parental/guardian guarantee may be required.

As you would expect from your credit union, Current Account has simple and transparent pricing. A low monthly fee of €4.00 applies and that covers unlimited Euro point of sale and contactless transactions, unlimited mobile and online banking and unlimited standing orders and direct debit processing and up to five Euro ATM withdrawals per month. Currency Conversion Calculator

When you use your Debit Card for purchases in foreign currency or ATM withdrawals in foreign currency, these transaction will attract additional fees and charges that are charged to your Current Account as they occur, typically on the date the transaction is posted to your Current Account.

Mastercard foreign exchange rates will also apply and are subject to change.

This currency conversion calculator allows you to see the foreign exchange rates set by Mastercard to convert from the transaction currency as well as the European Central Bank's euro foreign exchange reference rates for the EEA country currencies and the fees and charges that apply.

With Card payments being one of the safest and most convenient ways to pay for goods and services many stores do not even touch your card and get you to enter it in to the payment terminal yourself since the introduction of Chip & PIN. There are always situations where this is not the case and it is important that at a minimum you always keep the card within your sight.

Your Debit Card details can be used fraudulently even when the card itself is safely in your care, so it is vital to check your statements regularly. If you identify purchases that you didn’t make, you must report them immediately to your Credit Union or Credit Union Card Services team on +353 (1) 693 3333 available 24/7.

Scholarship Draw

You can enter our annual Scholarship Draw for college students who are members of Enniscorthy Credit Union. It is open to all students, in any year of college studying at home or abroad. There is a draw for Third Level and PLC Course Students with some great prizes. More information here.

Education Loans for College Students

A parent or guardian can apply for a personal loan for the purpose of assisting you with your studies. Our Education Loan interest rate is designed to help student members and their families at a special rate of
6% (APR 6.2%). More information here.

Warning: if you do not meet the repayments on your loan, your account will go into arrears. This may affect your credit rating, which may limit your ability. access credit in the future.
