Junior Account

We need the following information to open a Junior Account:

  • Birth Certificate for the minor.
  • Photo Identification for the minor if available (List of acceptable documents below).
  • Address verification dated within the previous six months for the minor or the parent/guardian of the minor. Parents address verification will suffice for children under 16 (List of acceptable documents below).
  • Proof of PPSN for the minor (List of acceptable documents below).
  • Photo Identification and Proof of Address for the parent/guardian of the minor.

 

Please also note the following:

A once off membership fee of 0.15c will be charged to the account. The minimum shares that you must hold in the account at all times is €5.00.
There is a savings cap of €30,000 in place on minor accounts until the minor reaches the age of 16 i.e. the total shares that a minor under 16 can hold in their account is not permitted to exceed €30,000 (taking into account all sub accounts also)

The minor is the beneficial owner of the funds held in the account at all times i.e. all funds held in the account and all associated sub accounts are the minors and all transactions must be for the minors sole benefit.

Once the minor reaches the age of 7, all withdrawals on the account must be signed for by the minor themselves, and the parent/guardian will no longer have signing rights on the account.

Identification for the parent/guardian of the minor must be kept up to date on the account until the minor reaches the age of 16.

 

Acceptable Photo Identification

One of the following (must be in date):

  • Current valid Passport
  • Current valid Photo Driving License
  • National Identity Card
  • ML10-Identification form with photo and date of birth signed and stamp dated by a member of the Gardaí
  • Age Card with birth cert to age 25

 

Acceptable Verification of Address

One of the following dated within the previous six months, showing both name and address, parents address verification will suffice for children under 16:

  • Official documentation issued by the Revenue Commissioners or Department of ProtectionLocal authority document, e.g. refuse collection bill,
  • water charge bill, LPT.
  • Original Account statement, e.g. bank, credit union (including postal statements from ECU and stamped accordingly), building society, credit card company.
  • Utility bill, e.g. telephone (including mobile phone), electric, gas, cable, Irish Water, waste collection.
  • Household or vehicle policy/certificate.
  • Any of the standard ID documents from list 1 above, i.e. drivers’ license (which contains a current address and is not already being used to verify name and was issued within the last 6 months).
  • Enniscorthy Credit Union correspondence such as CJA letters, pre-dormancy letters, juvenile to adult letters as we are confident that these can only have been received by post.
  • All documents should be originals where possible.

 

Verification of PPS Number (for beneficial owners)

PPS Number to be visually verified on one of the following:

  • Pension Book
  • Medical card
  • European Health Insurance Card
  • P60/P45
  • Drugs Payment Scheme
  • Payslip
  • Correspondence from Revenue/Social Protection
  • GP Visit Card

Documents not acceptable as Proof of ID/Address/PPSN

  • Public Services Card
  • Student card
  • Invoices or receipts such as Littlewoods/eFlow
  • NCT Letter
  • Medical letters or notices from HSE, doctor
  • Baptismal Certs
  • TV License
  • Employee ID
